Our mission is to provide quality instruction and support that empowers all students, regardless of ability, to experience academic success, form positive relationships, and become contributing members of society.

Public Notice - Retention of Special Education Records

In accordance with ARS §41-1351, the retention period is four (4) years for Special Education Records. Keeping records for a time period other than their approved retention period is illegal. Florence Unified School District will destroy Special Education Records of students who have been dismissed or withdrawn from Florence School District for four (4) years or more from the current academic year.

Prior to the destruction of records, you have the right to review the records and obtain copies of any information. To obtain records, you must be the parent or the legal guardian of the student or the student (age 18 or older). Please indicate your request by contacting the Exceptional Student Services Department at 480-987-5390 or email spedrecords@fusdaz.org before December 1st.

If you do not contact Student Services on or before December 1st, all records four (4) years older than the current academic year will be destroyed in accordance with established policy.  Current records are stored electronically.  Contact the Exceptional Student Services Department at 480-987-5390 or spedrecords@fusdaz.org to get a copy.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Notice

Central Arizona College (CAC) concurrent enrollment will work differently for high school students on an IEP or 504. By law, FUSD is not allowed to share IEP/504 information directly to CAC.  Students need to advocate for themselves; but FUSD ESS and CTE staff are here to assist our high school students in the process.

The process consists of the student making an appointment with the Student Accessibility Director.  Appointments can be made on the Central Arizona College website or by calling either 520-494-5275 or 520-464-5904.

We work to set the appoints virtually during the school day so the student’s FUSD Case Manager and/or CTE staff can be in on the meeting with the student and CAC representative.

After the meeting, documentation must be sent to CAC.  Click here to view the documentation guidelines >

Once CAC has all the documentation needed, CAC will share the IEP/504 information with the CAC instructor who is doing concurrent classes.

If you have further questions about concurrent enrollment for IEP/504 students, please email Tracey Celaya, FUSD CTE Director, or call her at 520-866-3573.  Or you can reach out directly to CAC’s Student Accessibility Director at studentaccessibility@centralaz.edu or by phone at 520-494-5524.
