School Safety

As a school district, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. In light of recent events, we want to take a moment to remind you of the measures we have in place to ensure the safety of our schools.

LOCKDOWN

One of the most important measures is our lockdown procedures. All of our buildings have secure entrances and exits, and our staff is trained to respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. We also conduct regular drills to ensure that everyone is prepared and familiar with the procedures. We strongly value the importance of working hand in hand with local law enforcement and the community to ensure the safety of our schools.

In addition to our lockdown procedures, we also have a number of other measures in place to keep our schools safe, including accountability for all individuals on campus, clear communication protocols, and guidance for parents during drills and actual events.

EMOTIONAL & MENTAL WELL-BEING

We understand that safety is not just about physical safety, but also about the emotional and mental well-being of our students. In conjunction with our safety procedures, we also stress the importance of social-emotional learning and provide daily exercises and instruction to support our students' emotional well-being.

We ask that parents talk to their children about these procedures and drills, so that they are aware of what to expect and how to respond in the event of an emergency. To aid in this, we also encourage parents to utilize videos such as the latest FBI "Run, Hide, Fight" video, which provides important information and guidance on how to respond in an active shooter situation. Please be aware that the video may be graphic and we highly suggest parents watch with their child to discuss any concerns or questions.

REUNIFICATION

If a reunification is needed, parents will be instructed when and where the location will be to pick up their student. If a reunification is called for, students will only be able to leave with a legal parent or guardian or someone listed on their emergency contact information. It is crucial that parents make sure this form is always updated. The person picking up the student must provide proper identification.

GETTING INVOLVED

We also encourage parents to get involved and be a part of our school safety programs and activities. By working hand in hand with the community, we can create a safer and more secure environment for our students and staff.

It is important to note, in such events, please do not call or come to the school as it may impede traffic for first responders and hinder the safety procedures that are in place. Instead, we encourage parents to use our school's apps and communication procedures to stay updated during emergency situations.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in keeping our schools safe and promoting the social-emotional well-being of our students.
