Introducing the Leaders of Florence Unified’ s Middle Schools:
A Team Committed to Excellence

 

As the Florence Unified School District excitedly ushers in a new era of growth and academic opportunity, we are thrilled to introduce the exceptional leaders who will guide our three new middle schools. These administrators bring a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to student success, and a shared vision for excellence that will benefit our students, families, and community.

Dr. Henry Saylor- Scheetz, known for his innovative approach and strong connection with students, has a history of creating campus culture that inspires academic and personal growth.

Mrs. Heather Zertuche, an advocate for collaborative learning and inclusivity. She brings dynamic energy that motivates both students and staff to reach their full potential.


 

Mr. Christ is committed to elevating student potential by implementing innovative strategies that meet the diverse academic needs of students while providing opportunities for all students to excel in the middle school model.

Mr. Johnson, his expertise and years of experience will allow him to advocate for student well-being, with an emphasis on building strong relationships with students, staff, and the broader community.


 

Mr. Stephen (Rusty) Smith is an advocate for student success and is steadfast in his approach to creating a learning environment where students feel empowered to achieve.

Mr. Fox, with his dedication to academic rigor and building strong relationships with the students that focus on trust and mutual respect, He will work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards of education.

Roseanne Quintero, Incoming Principal Of San Tan Heights K-6

With a extensive career in education spanning over a decade, Rosie brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to fostering a thriving learning environment for students, staff, and families.

Originally from Michigan, Rosie holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Saint Joseph’s College. In 2011, she relocated to Arizona to begin her educational journey. Committed to advancing her expertise, Rosie earned a master’s in education specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Arizona and a master’s in educational administration from Fort Hays State University.

Rosie’s teaching career includes roles as a second-grade teacher, sixth-grade teacher, and special education teacher for grades 3-8. Her leadership skills have been honed through positions as Dean of Students and Assistant Principal, leading to her current role as an elementary school principal. Her educational philosophy centers on creating a safe, engaging space where students can discover the joy of learning and develop pride in their community.

“I’m passionate about witnessing students succeed and uncover their unique identities at an early age,” Rosie shared. “I look forward to collaborating with the incredible staff, students, and families at San Tan Heights K-6 to continue building a community where every learner thrives.”

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rosie enjoys time with her family, exploring the outdoors, traveling, reading, and cheering on her daughters at their sporting events.

Rebecca Ramirez, Incoming Principal Of Florence K-6

A woman with long brown hair smiles warmly, wearing a blue blazer and a necklace.The Florence Unified School District (FUSD) is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Rebecca Ramirez as the new Principal of Florence K-6 for the 2025-2026 academic year. A Florence native, Rebecca’s deep roots in the community and educational experience make her an exceptional choice to lead the Florence K-6 school.

Born and raised in Florence, Rebecca began her teaching career with FUSD, where she spent 11 years as a primary teacher and reading interventionist. She then expanded her professional experience by joining Mesa Public Schools, where she served in various educational roles for over 11 years, including teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal for three years.

Rebecca holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University (NAU) and two master’s degrees, one in Elementary Education and another in Educational Leadership, both also from NAU. Her strong academic foundation and years of firsthand experience have equipped her to create a supportive and thriving learning environment for students, staff, and families.

“I am honored to return to my roots in Florence and lead Florence K-6,” Rebecca said. “My goal is to ensure that every student feels valued, empowered, and inspired to reach their full potential. I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff, students, and families to continue building a vibrant school community.

Rebecca has been married to her high school sweetheart for 24 years, and together they have three boys. As a family, they enjoy camping, traveling, and watching movies.
